An egg is not so perfect after all
Monday night, many of Joao's friends were having dinner at Marcushof. As an interesting demonstration, Luca showed how you can't break an egg by squeezing it. Unfortunately, the egg did break...

Poker
G'day Competitors and Onlookers,
Thanks for the great game last night (no thanks to Thomas though for taking my money!). For those who left before the end here is the final rankings (I think):
1) Thomas
2) Marco
3) Andrew
4) Ben
5) Claudia
6) Tommaso

Tommy shows his sad face for coming last.

Even the sunglasses can't hide Marco's tears when Thomas rejoices in victory!

And there it is. All our pockets (not including Thomas's deep, greedy, gold lined ones) are 5 Euro lighter.
And lastly, hows about some good Aussie movie viewing next Monday night? Let me know if this is a good time.
Doei my friends!

Thomas and Claudia size each other up. Luca thinks about what to wear tomorrow.

Carnaval in Maastricht
At the roof
Hey y'all!
Okay, no posting for a long time... We can thank that to the marvelous internet of Marcushof that doesn't let us upload pictures! But fortunately the university's does... Some days ago we had this nice photo session at the roof, here are some selected results!

From left to right, Marco, Luca, João, Claudia, Andrew. And in the background the nice grafitti heritage left by the last semester's people ;)

Here we have a nice aspect of the view from the roof, and also of Luca's new "bunny ears"...
Well, this is it for now. Next post: the cloggie craziness over Carnival in Maastricht! See you all soon!

This is our kingdom!!
Hi, people!!!!
The particular title of this post should remind you something..at least, I hope so! I don't know....Do you rember anything about some words, like KING, QUEEN (of "shit"!), PRINCESS (of Marcushof) and so on, that have been too often pronounced during these days, usually by mindless and suspicious characters??
Well..Never mind if you really cannot understand the underlying meaning of all these strange words..I would like to post some nice pictures as well..but thanks to a stupid slow internet connection you should wait for my next post..!!
Uh, I really don't want to forget to say that I completely agree with Ben..We have formed a fantastic group..And we are living an experience that can be just called unique: because of the company, because of the place, because of everyone of us!!
The last thing..I hope this post will not need any serious correction by my odd English teacher (probably next time I should introduce you Mary Poppins..!)!!

Good Beer, Great Nights, and Even Better Friends
Hello my multinational friends,
You know, for the sake of this blog I would tell you an interesting story. But all interesting recent events in my life have been with you guys. And so let me just say that it is an absolute privilege to have got to know you all over this last week, and I couldn't have hoped to have ended up with a more friendly and accepting bunch of people. Yes, it may be true that when I first saw you all stroll into Marco and Pierre's apartment one week ago that my first impression was of a group of "fully sick" wogs - unfortunately the result of unfounded Australian borne stereotypes - but it took no time to realise I was in fantastic company. It has been great fun, and may it continue to be fantastic for the rest of the semester and long after!
Love to you all!
Ben
PS: Here are some of my photos from the last week should you find them interesting.

Private Jokes and Salty Coffee
So, to start out the blog, it would be a nice idea to give an explanation of why a blog about some students studying abroad is called "Salt n Coffee"...
For that we must thank to our friend Claudia (or Claudiona, as you wish!). It appears that in one of the very early days of this "new floor" she was happily making coffee and made a little switch between two packets of white powder, obviously sugar and salt. It is needless to say that the poor guy who tasted the coffee (Marco) spat it all over when it touched his tongue! Nice start!
Now this issue is an almost daily theme of at least one joke and therefore the blog title!
Well with this said, only one private joke remains, regarding some happenings with an automatic broom. But I will leave the opportunity to tell that one to other of our fellow bloggers!

The Beginning
We stumbled across this:
Salty Coffee (http://salty-coffee.blogspot.com/)
"I have read this wonderful story about the salty coffe which a man had to drink all through the days of his life when he met his lady love. It was a prank - a loud joke - but he kept it hidden to himself, afraid to lose his partner. The wonderful thing is, when he wrote a letter to his wife just before he died, the woman was so touched by the gesture for so many many years that she said: the salty coffee is, in fact, sweet."
